Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is the "Usui System of Natural Healing," a Japanese healing practice founded by Mikao Usui that uses "universal life energy" (Reiki) through gentle hand-laying to promote physical, mental, and spiritual healing. 

This form of Reiki is the traditional Reiki as taught by Hawayo Takata. This form of Reiki sees the Reiki Precepts, or Gokai, and self Reiki treatments as foundations of the practice. As well as a powerful healing method, students of Usui Shiki Ryoho  are taught how to use, and experience it, as a wonderful Spiritual practice and personal development tool. 

The practice involves channeling "ki," or universal life energy, to support the body's natural healing processes. 

• Reiki is a type of complementary therapy. This means it can be used together with any kind of medicine or modality
• It is completely safe, non-invasive and non-manipulative. 
• Developed in the early 1900s by Mikao Usui, a Japanese man  
• Known as Usui Shiki Ryoho- the Usui System of Natural Healing, it came to be abbreviated to just Reiki. 
• It is a simple and effective healing therapy that is now used around the world by millions of people
• Reiki can be used for any condition minor or major, whether it is physical, mental or spiritual

Reiki can be used for any condition, will never do any harm and will always be of benefit.

These are a set of ethical guidelines for personal growth, including: 

"Just for today, I will not be angry," 

"Just for today, I will not worry," 

"Just for today, I will be grateful," 

"Just for today, I will do my work honestly,"

"Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing". 

Practitioners lay their hands on or near a recipient's body to promote relaxation and healing.  

The energy transference is done physically through touch or within the aura (bio-magnetic field).  

Symbols

There are three symbols in this practice that are keys or doorways to another level of relationship with the energy of Reiki. A student is asked for further commitment of time and attention to the practice. 

The three symbols have specific functions and form of use in the student’s daily practice, they are held as sacred and therefore secret. This means that the symbols are not used publicly in any way and the student is thoughtful when practicing to keep this part of the practice private. 

Healing Practice - 

the placement of the student’s hands on their own body daily for a few minutes or up to a full treatment which may take an hour or more.

Personal Development -

nourishes the core of our being and encourages the student in their human development. 

Spiritual Discipline - 

This expression refers to the common experience of a student when initiated into the practice.  Awakens in the student greater awareness and experience of their spiritual essence, guiding the unfolding of the authentic self. 

Mystic Order -

For us at this time the definition of Mystic Order is a group of people who share a common practice that brings them, through experience, to a reality beyond the realm of the five senses. Though the practice of Reiki employs the sense of touch, the quality of that touch can take us into the realm of union and communion with self, others, and the essence of life. 

Reiki can be sent "through time" to the past or future to support healing, balance, and well-being. 

This concept is part of distance Reiki, where a practitioner uses intention and specific symbols to channel energy across both space and time. 

This can help with past trauma by promoting acceptance and releasing anxiety, and can provide support and comfort for future events or challenges.
